Bowflex Treadclimber Troubleshooting

The Bowflex TreadClimber is a piece of fitness equipment that provides the owner with an extensive cardio workout. The Bowflex TreadClimber involves users stepping in a circular motion in order to reduce the amount of stress placed on the joints. Features of the workout machine include multiple speed and resistance ranges, personalized exercise routines, statistics indicator and heart rate monitor. You can perform a number of things in order to troubleshoot the Bowflex TreadClimber in case of malfunction.

Bowflex TreadClimber Troubleshooting Basics

If the power will not turn on for the Bowflex TreadClimber, make sure you are using a working outlet and that the machine is plugged in. The safety key included with the equipment will need to be in place as well for operation.

Another basic troubleshooting method to use for a Bowflex TreadClimber is to calibrate the machine. This method is used when incorrect data is being displayed on the digital screen. To calibrate, turn on the machine and stand on the platform of the equipment, not directly on the belts. Hold down both the “Power” and “Slower” keys. Release the buttons and then select the “Start” option. Calibration will start automatically and takes approximately three minutes to complete.

Belt Care

Caring for your Bowflex TreadClimber’s belt can help get rid of potential problems you may be experiencing, including odd noises or a stuck belt. To care for your belt, you will need to lubricate it from time to time with a silicone based lubricant that you can purchase from any hardware store. Unplug the Bowflex TreadClimber and cover the surface beneath each belt with a thin layer of the lubricant. Plug in the machine and allow the belts to run on the slowest speed for fifteen to thirty seconds. Turn off the Bowflex TreadClimber again and wipe away any excess lubricant prior to use. If the belt is loose, adjust the tension to improve the feel during your workout. To adjust the tension, find the belt adjusters on the base of the Bowflex TreadClimber. Use an Allen key to turn the bolts clockwise approximately one-fourth inch to tighten the belts.

Bowflex TreadClimber Diagnostics

If you need to contact a Bowflex customer representative about a problem with your equipment, he’ll likely ask you to access the diagnostic panel of the machine. To access the LED board for diagnostic information, you need to remove the right cover at the base of the Bowflex TreadClimber. To open the cover, unscrew the bolts with a Phillips head screwdriver. You will need to relay the colors of the indicator lights to the Bowflex representative in order to allow him to determine the basis of the machine malfunctioning.
