Isagenix Shakes & Pregnancy
Isagenix is a nutrition company that markets a line of nutritional and cleansing products. Isagenix products can be purchased as a complete system, or as individual products. Isagenix shakes, called IsaLean Shakes, are one product manufactured and sold by Isagenix. During pregnancy, good nutrition is important for the health of mother and baby. According to Isagenixhealth.net, IsaLean Shakes are safe during pregnancy. You should consult your midwife or obstetrician for further nutritional recommendations or if you have any questions or concerns.
Isagenix recommends that IsaLean shakes be used in addition to regular meals, not as a replacement. Although these shakes are often used as a weight loss tool, they should not be used for this purpose during pregnancy. These shakes however may serve as a way to increase calories and protein in the diet when used in combination with meals.
IsaLean Shakes can help expectant mothers get the necessary amount of protein required for a healthy pregnancy. The American Pregnancy Association notes that 75 to 100 g of protein is required each day. One IsaLean shake contains 23 g of protein. Expectant mothers who experience nausea during pregnancy may benefit from adding IsaLean shakes to the diet if it is difficult to consume other high protein foods such as chicken breast and eggs.
IsaLean shakes come in two flavors, chocolate and vanilla. They contain a low amount of lactose and no trans fats. These shakes are suitable for pregnant women who suffer from gluten intolerance because they are wheat and gluten free. They do not contain any artificial sweeteners or flavorings.
IsaLean shakes include several vitamins and minerals that may supplement a pregnancy diet, but should not replace daily prenatal vitamins. Vitamin A, D, C, E, B-6, B-12, thiamine, niacin, folate, biotin, riboflavin and pantothenic acid are included in the shakes. Featured minerals include calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, selenium, manganese, molybdenum, iron, iodine, zinc, copper and chromium. IsaLean shakes do not contain 100 percent of the daily value of these vitamins and minerals. You should check with your health care provider to be sure that you do not receive an excess of these vitamins and minerals when combined with your prenatal vitamin.
